Design matters as much to service companies (FedEx) as to manufacturers. It matters (or should) as much to staff departments/PSFs - which communicate to internal customers via hundreds, thousands of design cues - as to a "line activity" such as marketing.
And yet design typically gets short shrift (especially in "staff" activities). or worse: Design is used, if at all, as a mop-up tool to tidy things up after the fact.
In fact, design's power can only be unleashed when it is a full project partner from Day No. 1.
