Reducing scope for misunderstanding-Inspiring definitions

I thought I would gather some working definitions of words that seem to have fairly loose meanings; they are a starting point..... it is better if groups discover common meaning themselves ... my motivation for choosing these was to find ones that helped me look out not in... maybe even start my thinking from the result and work back...because

"it is easier to get here from there rather than there from here"

Insight means grasping the inner nature of things intuitively; arriving at a clear or deep perception of a situation; developing a clear (and often sudden) understanding of a complex situation . If you want to gain insight, it is much better to focus in on the problem space first, as opposed to focusing on the solution space. - Mohan Sawhney.

A Consumer Insight is a discovery of something interesting or enlightening about the consumer's needs, beliefs or behaviour. This penetrating understanding can provide hooks or clues to help us to identify opportunities to address the needs of consumers in new and competitively superior ways.
